Open Studio: A success! Thank you everyone!

(Helen Scanlon, posing with "Cantering Mare" and "Mr. Big Stuff," Open Studio, Nov. 2007)

The 2007 Holiday Open Studio was a big success! I got to see some old friends, and make some new ones. Thank you to everyone who came by! All of you got me into the Holiday spirit....
(Helen Scanlon posing with "The Arabian Mare" and "Baroque" Open Studio Nov. 2007)

Here's one of my very favorite charcoal drawings, "Legend II" in its frame. Pardon the glare from the glass.
Here's my display table. I unearthed some childhood horse drawings and displayed them: the yellowed- from- time graphite drawing in blue paper (done as a 13 year old in 1980), the charcoal next to it (done as 14 year old in 1981), and the charcoal drawing in the case right next to my arm (that was done in 1979 when I was 12!)

I must give many, many thanks to my wonderful, sweet and talented husband Steve of Scanlon Design Services--he designed and printed all the note cards, designed my official website, designed all the studio printed material, AND set up the Christmas tree and the laptop in the studio. He also took a bunch of great pictures! What a guy! *big smiles*

This last pic is a candid close up of me with "Cantering Mare"--note my happy smile. Thanks again to all of my studio visitors. Stay tuned for a Spring Open Studio! Send me an e-mail at soundthebuglestudio (at) charter.net if you would like to be added to my mailing list.

(note to self: make more gift baskets next year! They were a hit!)

Happy Holidays everyone!

Great News for West Coast Dressage riders and fans...

...Keenan/Pecorelli World Class Equestrian Events is here!

I have signed on as a sponsor, and I will be donating a large scale charcoal drawing for their silent auction. I am a HUGE dressage fan as many of you know, and I jumped at the opportunity to support this new dressage events company.

They offer West Coast dressage riders the chance to get their qualifying scores close to home.

The 2007 Del-Mar classic was a roaring success, and I was invited by KP Events to attend this exciting dressage event next year.

From their website:

The Del Mar Classic, recently approved by USEF/FEI to be an internationally rated Dressage competition, provides an exceptional competitive experience and serves as a selection trial for the Olympic Games, the World Cup Finals (W), and the 2008 National Grand Prix and Intermediare I Championships. It is also a North American Young Rider(Y)and Junior Rider(J) Championship qualifier.
The “Classic” boasts three days of top-level competition with exhibitors, sponsors and competitors coming from California, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington and Canada.
The Classic typically enjoys very strong representation from West Coast Olympic riders such as Debbie McDonald, Hilda Gurney, Guenter Seidel, Steffen Peters, Sue Blinks, Leslie Morse and Charlotte Bredahl. The opportunity to watch, ride with and compete against world-class talent underscores the unique dressage experience that marks The Del Mar Classic.

check out their website at: KP Events, Inc.

Congrats, kudos and gratitude to the stellar team of Kim Keenan and Nikki Pecorelli. You are an asset to the sport of dressage. I am looking forward to hearing about your future successes!
