news and updates from your friendly purple haired artist

I've had purple in my hair for over a year now, and when I got my most recent haircut I had a little hot pink thrown in too.
's true! :)

I used to dye my hair eggplant purple when I was in my late teens and early twenties. Thought I'd resurrect it as I enter my forties. Why not?

Anyway, as my dear friend Kim would say, "enough about my hair!"

There have been a few changes in open studio plans for the summer. I am SO BUSY, (thank you all, hooray!) that I have made the decision to wait until October and November for my Open Studios.

My UC Ringmaster watercolor/ink portrait will be hanging at the University of Connecticut horse barn VERY soon, and you will be able to see it firsthand. I may also borrow it back for an Open Studio day in the fall.

I love being busy, and I have so many things cookin' right now (the book, card designs, charity events, open houses, lino prints, matting and framing, gasp gasp). Thank you to everyone for their support, and see you at an Open Studio very soon!

Happy Birthday to Meeeeeeeee....

Today I turn the big 4-0.

Today's image shows moi at the Wellfleet, Massachusetts, Audubon Nature Sanctuary last October. I am in my favorite fall ensemble--my cozy, gray, moth-nibbled sweater and plush blue velvet scarf. So warm when there is a Fall nip in the air! (I love the Fall--it is my favorite season).

I love the beauty and magic of Cape Cod in the Fall. This picture always makes me smile.

Some reflections as I say goodbye to my thirties:

Do not rely on a paycheck for happiness.
Breathe.
Surround yourself with good, honest people who enrich your life
"This above all, to thine own self be true."
Always take time to appreciate those you love.
Breathe!
It's all good.--(Thanks, Mary. I miss you.)
Every once in a while, put on that old K-Tel disco record and spin around the living room...

and...

don't be afraid to put purple AND pink in your hair.

Many thanks to my friends, family and customers---have some cake today! You are the BEST.

Thanks for encouraging and supporting this happy artist!

very best wishes to all of you!
Helen
